Help our farm grow, launch your journey

Diversifying for Tomorrow
At Rice Lake Farms, our foundation is built on organic livestock farming and a deep commitment to raising pigs and sheep in their natural environment, while ensuring high-quality food reaches local shelters and food banks across Ontario. Driven by innovation, we are entering an exciting new chapter. By expanding into fresh, forward-thinking developments, we are actively diversifying our operations with the hope of serving as a model of modern resilience for farms and farmers everywhere. The future is bright, and we are thrilled for the transformative opportunities ahead!
Our History
Rooted in Tradition, Evolving for the Future
Rice Lake Farms operates on the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) Anishinaabeg, within lands covered by the Williams Treaties. We honor the enduring stewardship of Indigenous Peoples who have cared for these lands since time immemorial, and we embrace reconciliation by practicing continuous learning and respect for the environment.

Originally established as Lago Vista Farms along the shores of Rice Lake, the property built its heritage on traditional agriculture, organic practices, and community connection.

As global travel evolved, Lago Vista Farms transitioned into Rice Lake Farms to offer purpose-driven experiences for international youth. Today, we maintain our commitment to regenerative land care while providing a certified, skill-building residency that serves as an empowering launchpad for travelers.
Our Mission
To empower international travelers by transforming farm volunteering into a immersive skill-building residency that pairs authentic Canadian land care with hands-on life skills and travel advice, equipping every guest to launch their next great adventure with confidence.

Our Values
-
Mutual Growth: A balanced exchange where volunteer efforts support the farm while the program actively invests in individual career development and growth.

-
Grounded Stewardship: Dedicated care for the land, livestock, and local environment through sustainable, regenerative organic farming practices.
